Routine Care

The best way to preserve your oral health is to brush and floss regularly, and make sure to have routine oral exams and dental cleanings at least twice annually. Practicing good oral hygiene at home can go a long way toward preventing the development of serious dental issues later on, but even those with excellent brushing and flossing habits can occasionally have problems with their teeth and gums. Restorative and cosmetic dentist Dr. Marianna Farber and her team of highly trained dental professionals offer comprehensive treatment options to help you maintain a healthy, beautiful smile.

Dental Cleanings

In order to keep your mouth healthy and clean, routine dental cleanings are very important. Brushing and flossing alone cannot always protect you from tooth decay and gum disease. Dr. Farber and her team offer thorough, comprehensive dental cleanings that can help you maintain good oral health and a bright, polished smile.

Oral Exams

dentalchair-200x300Routine oral exams are essential to detect existing and potential problems with the health of your teeth and gums. Oral exams should be conducted twice per year to ensure that any issues are caught early. We use advanced dental technology and the skills of our experienced dental team to provide you with the fastest, most accurate, and comfortable care possible. If any problems are found during your oral exam, a customized treatment plan can be created to meet your needs.

Oral Cancer Screening

If detected early, research has shown that patients diagnosed with oral cancer can have an 80-90 percent chance of survival. Unfortunately, the earliest stages of oral cancer are likely to go unnoticed, as symptoms are often not visible until the disease progresses further. This makes it very important to have regular oral cancer screenings. Oral cancer can affect smokers and non-smokers alike, so having an oral cancer screening as part of your regular oral exam could potentially be a lifesaving procedure. Dr. Farber recommends at least one oral cancer screening each year for patients who do not use tobacco products, and at least two screenings annually for patients who do use tobacco products.

Infection Control

Patient safety is of the utmost importance to us. For that reason, we uphold high standards of sterilization and cleanliness. All staff wears gloves and masks when treating patients, and we take great care to sterilize all surfaces that patients may come in contact with. We use disposable equipment when possible, and any reusable equipment is thoroughly sterilized after each use.

Dental Emergencies

In the event of a dental emergency – such as extreme pain, tooth injury, or other issues – we are here for you! We provide all of our patients with a 24-hour emergency phone number that can be used to contact us if immediate attention is needed. If you feel you are suffering from a dental emergency, please call (212) 588-1500.

Mariana is a saint! I went in with a tooth ache. Dr. Farber knew immediately what the cause was and recommended its solution instantly. Seriously, THANK YOU!

Scaling and Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is a standard treatment for gum disease, and can be very effective at reducing symptoms and preventing the condition from getting worse. This non-surgical treatment works to eliminate bacteria and infection from deep pockets within the gums. Plaque and tartar are removed, and the gums are then treated with laser technology to provide a strong seal to the teeth. Dr. Farber offers scaling and root planing as one of the many gentle techniques used for periodontal care.
