For many patients, straightening crooked or misaligned teeth may be something they’ve wanted to do for a long time, but they are hesitant about having to wear uncomfortable, metal braces. Fortunately, traditional metal braces are not the only option available. With Invisalign® New York City, patients can now straighten their teeth discreetly and conveniently. The innovative design of Invisalign® uses a series of clear teeth aligning trays that gradually shift your teeth into a more desirable position. Invisalign® can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, including mild to moderate overbites, underbites, crowded teeth, and spaced teeth.
Benefits of Using Invisalign®
Unlike metal braces, Invisalign® is virtually undetectable when in use. Straightening your teeth with Invisalign® has many other benefits, as well, such as:
- More comfortable than metal braces
- Can be removed to eat, drink, brush, and floss
- Less visits to the dentist for maintenance are typically required during treatment
- Patients often achieve desired results in less time – many patients complete treatment in 12 months or less
Digital Impressions with the iTero® Element™ Intraoral Scanner
Before beginning Invisalign® treatment, our cosmetic dentist will use the iTero® Element™ Intraoral Scanner to take digital impressions of your teeth. This scanner creates a 3D image of your teeth that can ultimately provide an enhanced fit for your Invisalign® aligners. Traditionally, impressions have been taken using putties and molds that can be messy and unpleasant, which typically require about 10-15 minutes to complete. With the iTero® Element™ Intraoral Scanner, Dr. Farber can often complete this step within just a few minutes.
To capture the 3D image, a handheld wand will scan all sides of your teeth to document the current state of your teeth. This is uploaded almost immediately to a computer, allowing Dr. Farber to show you what your Invisalign® treatment will be working to improve. The iTero® Element™ technology can even simulate how your final result could look, helping you understand what to expect from your Invisalign® experience.
How Invisalign® Works
Before beginning Invisalign® treatment, Dr. Marianna Farber will use a 3D computer imaging system to create a virtual image of your teeth. Using this computer-generated model, Dr. Farber will have a series of clear aligner trays created for you. Each tray is slightly different than the previous tray in the series, allowing for gradual movement of your teeth. Dr. Farber will instruct you to wear each tray for a certain amount of time, usually for about two weeks, depending on your treatment plan. Once you are finished with one set of aligners, it can be discarded for the next in the series. Dr. Farber will ask that you return for occasional follow-up appointments so that she can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan for the most optimal results. These visits are infrequent, are usually fairly brief, and should not cause significant interruption to your daily routine.
Invisalign® can help you achieve straighter teeth and a rejuvenated smile – without others even knowing you are undergoing treatment! Once treatment has been completed, many patients choose to enhance their new smile with teeth whitening as “the finishing touch.”
Cost of Invisalign®
Patients who seek to correct teeth alignment issues know that orthodontic treatment is a lifelong investment. Invisalign® is designed to treat a variety of concerns, and the system is customized to treat the personalized needs of each patient. The cost of the clear aligner system will vary based on a number of factors. This includes the complexity of the case and the number of trays needed to correct the patient’s bite and straighten their teeth.
Although the national average price for Invisalign® is approximately $5400, cost will depend on your individual needs. An exact quote for your treatment can only be provided after a personal consultation with Dr. Farber when she can evaluate the extent of your tooth misalignment and bite concerns. Most patients can expect to pay anywhere from $4500-$8000 for their Invisalign®.
As an orthodontic treatment, Invisalign® is often partially covered by many insurance plans. At Contemporary & Esthetic Dentistry, our knowledgeable staff can assist you with determining the level of coverage offered by your plan. For any amount not covered by insurance, we are able to help you find a financing option with a payment plan that works for you.
Regardless of your orthodontic concerns, Dr. Farber and our team can assist you with finding a way to make Invisalign® affordable, no matter what your budget is. Cost should never stand in the way of receiving the orthodontic treatment you need, and we are here to help!
